It's been 5 years since Rachel Kohn graduated from Skidmore and left us at Gallery100 We caught up with her last night at the Tang during a very pleasant exhibition of artwork from returning alumnae. Rachel describes her work as "visceral forms that have a very physical presence, yet also evoke the beautiful and transcendent qualities of human fragility." Her small scaled wall pieces have a beautiful/ugly quality that I am always attracted to -- are her pieces beautiful but so beautiful that they become repellent? Sounds like some people I know. Which dramatizes the strength of her work. Rachel is showing in Paris at the Affordable Art Fair with GV Art. She will receive her MFA from Hunter at the end of this year. Good job Rachel.
